An Outdoor Adventure Guide to Cabo, Mexico

September 21, 2021

Vacationing in Cabo is ideal for investors looking for a mix of outdoor adventure and upscale surroundings. Located on the tip of Baja California, it has been a hot spot for celebrities like George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston, and other high-end travelers for years.

“Cabo” encompasses three areas: Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, and the highway between them known as the Cabo Corridor.

Cabo offers desert, mountains, beaches, and sunny dry weather year-round. Guests can visit authentic Mexican hole-in-the-wall restaurants as well as fine dining establishments; ride horses or hire yachts; swim in the pools or visit one of the few swimmable beaches.

Cabo has seen brands like Ritz Carlton, Rosewood, Auberge, St. Regis, and Nobu move in and claim land in the area.

Jacobo Turquie, the realtor with Engel & Volkers Snell Real Estate, who helped us find a house in Cabo, says the area is becoming a destination for international travelers from Canada, London, and Panama, as airlines are adding direct flights to the region.

Why We Chose Cabo for an Investment Opportunity

Not only is Cabo in high demand, but the investment residence here is one of the largest in our portfolio, sleeping up to 12 people. It has indoor and outdoor living areas for entertaining a large group of family and friends. That includes a pool, game room, open kitchen, and BBQ area.

Jacobo recalls that “Greg [Salley, the Equity Residences Managing Director] wanted a 5+ bedroom house. This house has direct access to the beach. You can walk to the beach or drive a golf cart or an ATV.”

“The seller of the house is also the developer of this community. He owns a construction company. Greg has requested to add a fifth bedroom and to add a partition in the entertainment area. There are also maid’s quarters that can serve as an additional bedroom.”

According to Jacobo, Cabo real estate saw an increase in offers for houses for sale starting in November 2020. He considers 2021 to be the record year in terms of sales. Cabo is running out of inventory. “When you are this close to the ocean, you are running out of space to build on the ocean. It is a great investment. I anticipate high demand for this house from both your partners and renters.”

Explore the Gulf of Baja California

The Blue Sea community, where the Equity Platinum Fund villa is located, is in the Cabo Corridor and is only a 10-15 minutes drive from the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. Once you have settled in, the most popular natural attraction to see is The Arch of Cabo San Lucas. We recommend guests hire a private catamaran or charter a yacht to get up close. The boats will take you right to the cliffs for magical views and photo ops, so get your camera ready — this is a must-see!

If you are making last-minute plans, you can take a water taxi from the Cabo San Lucas Marina. There are plenty of options for you to choose from. After the sightseeing trip, grab dinner at Los Deseos restaurant for some excellent Mexican food served in a colorful and festive atmosphere.

At this location, whale watching is also popular during migration season between December and April of each year. Choose between a whale watching tour or a snorkel trip. Snorkeling or scuba diving provides a greater view of the variety of marine life where you can see marlin, yellowfin, tuna, mahi-mahi, sharks, and much more! To learn more about these and other water adventures like fishing charters, visit Kingfish Cabo or Cabo Expeditions. You can select from individual services, kid-friendly options, or even all-inclusive group tours. Cabo is a perfect location for a variety of outdoor activities!

Dining Around the Mexican Desert

Covered in cacti and sand dunes, the Mexican desert has a lot to explore as well. Whether it is on an ATV, Jeep, or came, there are a ton of ecotours to choose from. Some even include a Mexican-style lunch and tequila tasting — a great way to learn about Mexican culture through a culinary adventure.

After a full day of outdoor adventures and working up an appetite, dining around Cabo is a perfect way to relax. With its proximity to deep-sea fishing, you will want to try the very best of fresh seafood at places like Nicksan for a fusion of sushi and tapas. You can drive to Nicksan from our villa, as they have a location in the Cabo Corridor.

When you are in Cabo, we highly recommend attending cooking classes and visiting restaurants that focus on sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, and preparing regional Mexican dishes.

We have two recommendations for you that are local favorites. Los Tamarindos has its own organic farm. The chef shows you around the farm, explains the basics of sustainable agriculture practices, and then teaches you how to prepare Mexican dishes that are unique to the region. It’s an afternoon of education and fun! We recommend bringing your friends to share the meal after the class and sip on margaritas while sitting on the farm terrace and overlooking serene farm grounds.

Another local favorite to experience is Flora Farms. We recommend making reservations for cooking classes and dining well in advance, as this is a very popular spot with both locals and visitors.

Cabo establishments tend to deliver experiences, not just food and drinks. Take Acre, for example. It has an animal sanctuary, a garden, a sustainable villa community, and a restaurant + bar space that was started by two Canadians. It began as a restaurant and evolved into a whole new concept worth visiting.

If you are into luxury resort dining, don’t miss Arbol at Rosewood ResortComal at Chileno Bay Resort, and La Deriva at Solaz Resort. You can walk to the Solaz Resort from the Equity Platinum Fund villa if you don’t feel like driving. The Rosewood and Chileno Bay Resorts are located a short driving distance away.

Spa services

If you like to indulge in facials, massages, and pedicures on your vacation, you can book spa services in any of the resorts mentioned above. The Spa at Las Ventanas, a Rosewood Resort offers relaxing treatments.

You don’t have to drive to visit a spa. Walk to Solaz Resort and book one of their treatments. You can also bring a spa service to your villa by booking one of the mobile spa services.

Enjoy outdoor activities in Cabo.

If you love horses and donkeys, we recommend booking a trail ride with Rancho Carisuva. Spend your afternoon with these gentle creatures while admiring the Cabo landscape.

If you are a more advanced rider and don’t want to miss your lessons, book a riding lesson with Cuadra San Francisco. Book in advance and don’t forget to pack your riding boots!

If you like ATV tours or ziplining, book one of the tours Wild Canyon has to offer.

Conclusion

As you can see Cabo has a lot of activities to offer! When you stay at the Equity Platinum Fund villa, you will have your choice of restaurant, spas, water activities, and tours. For more information, reach out to our concierge for help with trip planning!
